I couldnt agree more that hunting with any weapon that doesnt have the proper killing power (and its not all kinetic energy - just ask any archer) is a senseless, cruel act. On the other hand, airguns have plenty of energy for certain game animals.
I would suggest looking at the Gamo or RWS line of airguns in .22 caliber. Living in a populated area, the .22 doesnt carry a high velocity in case you miss, but has better energy and knockdown power. Daisy sells two Gamo guns under the Powerline Name. You can visit their web site to see them. Also, dont discount the Sheridan line. The only drawback to the Sheridan is the multipump charging.
